In an area of lower Manhattan, which doesn't have a lot of public active recreation opportunities the Downtown Alliance created Game On, a Summer long event offering active recreation opportunities in a string of public spaces controlled by a variety of unrelated entities. Some of the entities were DOT Plazas, some Privately owned public spaces and still others NYC Parks dept Parks.
This map of Water Street shows the locations of most of the active recreation activities available on this trail.
In a similar fashion the
26th Street River to River Active Recreation walking trail is meant to create an active recreation trail in Midtown Manhattan.
